Japanese$$
Make like an overworked Japanese salaryman and rush into this cramped diner (expansion plans are afoot) for authentic plates of food ferried quick-smart from the kitchen, or from the sushi counter wedged in the corner. Snare a table, perch on a stool and peruse the laminated menu before tucking into nasu dengaku (eggplant topped with pork mince and miso), takoyaki (crumbed balls of potato and octopus) or light, crisp tempura, followed, perhaps, by a platter of glistening sashimi or sushi such as just-seared aburi salmon. Rotating specials might include satisfyingly crunchy soft-shell crab. A touch of Tokyo down Carnegie way.
