Harvest

Opposite the beach in Coolum, although with obstructed views, Harvest's inspiring menu belies its modest position. Light and breezy, it affords a casual, but stylish seaside ambience synonymous with Sunshine Coast dining. A little whimsy first up with the luscious kataifi-wrapped scallops that grace the entree selection, along with confit pork belly, which is accompanied by vivid green crushed peas and a delightfully fresh, crisp apple, parsley and chorizo salad. Tiger prawn tagliatelle packs a big punch of flavour with its additions of chilli, lemon, vine-ripened tomatoes, spinach and roasted olives. Nothing beats the colourful and crispy skinned duck though, bedded on a mound of green beans, baby beetroot, potato and tangy blood orange salad with a light scattering of roast hazelnuts. There's a lovely selection of sweet treats to finish off: pear and almond tart with caramelized walnuts is a definite winner, with second place won by a simple but particularly good rum and raisin ice-cream.
