Reigning champions Contax has delivered a statement performance after recovering from hefty deficit to run down rivals Matrics in a physical Netball SA Premier League encounter.
It may have been only round two but it had the intensity and pressure of a final as Contax took their record to 2-0 with the 46-42 victory.
Contax didn’t start particularly well and found themselves eight behind early in second quarter. But from there they were able to regroup and go to halftime tied at 22-all.
Both teams refused to yield in the third as they traded blows, resulting in multiple lead changes before Contax turned for home one to the better at 33-32.

Contax v Matrics (Reserves)
Falling two goals behind, Matrics were the first to gather some momentum when back-to-back goals by Emily Sibley saw them retake the lead.
But Contax captain Sophie Agostino was having none of that as she netted four quick goals.
Then three consecutive goals to goal attack Jordi Vidmar, who finished with a game-high 24, blew the lead out to a five goals and effectively ended to contest with two minutes remaining.
Agostino contributed 14 goals and Jazmine Noye chimed in with eight, while goalkeeper Molly Watson was huge in the second half.
Matrics goal attack Kimberley Hearnden scored 23 and Danielle Binks was prominent in the first half, finishing with 13 of her own, while Lucy Voyvodic had an outstanding game at wing defence for the vanquished.
PREVIEW
Reigning Netball SA Premier League champions Contax remain confident of another premiership charge this season, despite losing key stars Kayla Graham and Chelsea Blackman to the Thunderbirds.
The club will gear up to take on rival Matrics on Wednesday night after an impressive win over last season’s runner-up South Adelaide in round one.
You can watch all the action live and exclusive right here on Adelaide Now and KommunityTV from 7pm.
Contax has elevated a number of young up and coming stars for this season after losing its two veterans, including Anessah Oakley, Rachel Hayball and Jazmin McKay.
Blues coach Leanne Eichler said she was satisfied with what she saw from her new-look team in a 55-45 win over South Adelaide.
“It was good for us to get that win under our belt,” Eichler said.
“We have had a bit of a change in personnel but the girls have been working really hard with the way we want to play and playing to our individual and team strengths.
“The application of that was really positive.”
Aiming for a third consecutive title this season, Contax will be looking forward to another big test tonight against modern rival Matrics.
Their opponent also has a new-look side, with new recruit shooter Danielle Binks highlighting a number of changes.
Eichler said she was excited for the challenge.
“They’ve got a lot of experienced players in their group and they’ve had a few changes but obviously both of us will have a few unavailable this week with nationals being on.
“It’s the modern day rivalry and we always love the challenges we have against Matrics so we’re excited for that.
“We want to work towards early wins, execute and play to our strengths.”
While Contax has a number of new players this year, the early signs are still there for another run into finals.
Eichler said she was confident in her team’s strengths.
“We make it known at the start of every year that it's a reset and the last 12 months are history.
“We’ve never had the same first seven going into every year since I’ve been coaching.
“We’re working around the strengths of our players now and building a strong team approach around that.”
