A second straight win over a 2024 grand finalist has further enhanced Garville’s credentials as a genuine challenger to this year’s premiership.

After knocking off 2024 runner-up Panthers last week, the Greys proved it was no fluke with a hard-fought 56-52 win over reigning champions Contax on Wednesday night.

The defeat ended Contax’s undefeated start to the season.

Goal shooter Lenzie Guidera was terrific in the circle, finishing with 36 goals, while her attacking partner in Brooke Irlam ended the night with 20.

After trailing by one goal at quarter time, Garville lead at every change that followed with a three goal halftime lead turning into a four goal margin at both three quarter and full time.

Jordi Vidmar (29) and Jazmine Noye (23) shared the load in the circle for Contax.

In reserves action, Garville came away with a 49-48 victory in a thrilling encounter.

Netball SA Premier League outfit Garville will aim to tally two major wins in a row this Wednesday night when it takes on reigning premier Contax.

Finishing third on the ladder last season, the Greys have had to face three juggernauts in Matrics, South Adelaide and Contax to start the 2025 campaign.

But after defeating the 2024 runner-up Panthers in round two and a narrow two-goal loss to the Stars in the opening round, Garville will have confidence coming up against the league’s leading force.

Contax has also showed positive signs to start its 2025 campaign, defeating both South Adelaide and Matrics to sit equal top with Oakdale.

Captain Sophie Agostino was at her best for Contax against Matrics, dominating at centre before taking over as goal shooter to tally 14 goals.

Coach Leanne Eichler said she had been impressed by her side’s form after a number of list changes in the pre-season.

“The girls have been working really hard with the way we want to play and playing to the strengths of the team,” she said.

“The application of that was really positive.”

A win for Garville would place the side firmly among the top three while a Contax win would keep the reigning premier’s early undefeated record intact.

The Premier League clash will begin the action on Wednesday night from 7pm followed by the Reserves, both live and exclusive on KommunityTV.
