The SAAS First XVIII college football season is around the corner as the state’s top schools get set to battle for silverware. Here are the top players to watch in season 2025.

The 2025 SAAS First XVIII college footy season is nearly here, as Adelaide’s best footy schools get set to clash.

With the help of colleges and coaches, we’ve picked the players to watch in 2025.

Here is our list in alphabetical order.

TIM ALVER

(Westminster)

A skilled player through the middle and around the ground for Westminster and Glenelg, Alver could be set for a big year in college footy.

Finds plenty of the footy and uses it well by hand and foot.

LUKE CANDY

(Sacred Heart)

A talented player who can have an impact in attack and defensively for Sacred Heart.

Candy is renowned for his strength around the contest and consistently wins hard footy, is a reliable option in front of goal and can also create for others.

MYLES CARR

(St Ignatius)

An up and coming gun midfielder.

Carr is an explosive player and a dangerous clearance player who can also be an evasive threat up front.

JACK COOK

(Immanuel)

A hardworking and reliable midfielder who consistently finds the footy, Cook should be one of Immanuel’s top performers in 2025.

Can dominate a game through the middle and in the contest with his ability to win the ball and damage opposition with classy disposal by foot.

SAM CUMMING

An inside midfielder who can also go forward and do damage.

Cumming boasts a reliable and damaging kick, wins contested ball and is a strong contested mark when playing up front.

NOAH DAW

A gun key defender for Rostrevor, Daw could be set for a big 2025 season.

Reads the play well to cut off attacks or lock down forwards in the air and at ground level and is also a reliable distributor out of the backline.

BEN FRANCOU

(St Peter’s)

An up and coming star midfielder for St Peter’s, Ben Francou - the son of former Port Adelaide All-Australian Josh Francou, will be one to watch this season.

Francou is a skilled player who finds plenty of the footy, makes good decisions in possession and damages with his disposal.

AIDAN HOCKLEY

(Trinity)

A quick midfielder who is hungry and lively in the contest,

Hockley has no issue winning his own footy in packs and delivers the ball with precision to his forwards.

LOGAN HUGHES

(St Michael’s)

A skilled forward for St Michael’s, Hughes could be set for a big year.

Is a smart forward who is skilled overhead and at ground level and knows his way around goal.

PATRICK HUTCHINS

(Westminster)

A forward/midfield utility who can impact the game in a number of ways.
Hutchins’ ability to find the footy and either create goalkicking opportunities or finish chances himself will be a big factor for Westminster this year.

TAJ MURRAY

A ruck/forward standing at over 200cm tall, Murray has the potential to be a force for Princes.

Murray’s tap work is elite, he can take strong marks up front or around the ground and can speed away from opponents over his first 20 metres.

FERGUS MYALL

(Rostrevor)

Another gun ruck/forward utility, Myall will be one to watch this season for Rostrevor.

Has the ability to dominate in the ruck with clever tap work or do damage as a strong marking forward with reliable skills.

ZANE PEUCKER

(St Michael’s)

A talented midfielder, Peucker has the potential to be a difference maker for St Michael’s.

Has the ability to win the footy in the contest and damage sides with his run and ball use.

JOSEPH RAPHAEL

(Sacred Heart)

A tough player around the ball, Raphael will be a key player for Hearts this year.

Applies strong pressure, wins the contested footy and has the ability to make smart and fast decisions under pressure.

JEFF ROZENBILDS

(St Peter’s)

A young gun halfback, Rozenbilds can change a game with his ability to defend and distribute.

Does a strong job at the back by reading the play to intercept attacks before delivering efficiently to his teammates.

AIDAN SCHUBERT

(Trinity)

A dominant key forward and ruck, Schubert is set for a big 2025 season.

Is a great leader on the park who uses his athleticism to take strong overhead marks and kicks long and straight.

GEORGE SEROCKI

(St Ignatius)

Entering his second season of First XVIII footy, Serocki could have a big campaign.

A skilled, smart and rangy midfielder who can damage sides in a number of ways from winning his own footy to creating goalkicking opportunities.

AIDAN TURNER

(Immanuel)

A small defender who will also play midfield this year for Immanuel.

Turner can read the play as well as anyone in his side and boasts great hand and foot skills when creating for teammates.
