Christmas Day weather could hit the sweet spot for Tasmanians — with neither stinking hot, nor cold, damp conditions forecast.

Along with New South Wales and Victoria, the Apple Isle is gearing up for a “warm, settled and generally dry Christmas”, according to the Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Miriam Bradbury.

“A high pressure ridge will bring settled and generally dry weather to south-east Australia, with the possibility of a morning shower or two across the east coast of New South Wales and morning showers around the west and south coasts of Tasmania,” she said.

Although, isolated showers are possible in part of the state, Ms Bradbury expected the west and south coasts could experience a few morning showers.

“Christmas will be a fine and mostly settled day for most parts,” she said.

“Temperatures will be mild.”

As with most of the national capitals, excluding Darwin, Hobart is set to experience a fine and mostly sunny day.

The mercury is forecast above the average daytime temperature across the state, including in the capital with 24C expected.
