Serious crash involving truck and pedestrian in Burnie

A WOMAN has been flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital after she was hit by a truck as she crossed the road in Burnie this morning.
Western Road and Public Order Services Sergeant Nick Patten said the 56-year-old is in a serious but stable condition.
Police said the woman was walking across the junction of Cattley and Wilson streets in Burnie’s CBD about 9am when she was struck by a truck turning right.
Several police officers were nearby and witnessed the incident. They attended to the injured woman while they waited for paramedics to arrive.
The truck driver, who was uninjured, remained on the scene.
The junction was closed to traffic while police marked and photographed the site of the crash. Investigations are continuing.
