Man who allegedly tried to kill his wife and two sons faces court

A Glenorchy man accused of trying to murder his wife and two young sons at her parents’ home is finally standing trial in Burnie - four years after the alleged incident.

A GLENORCHY man accused of trying to kill his wife and two young sons is standing trial in Burnie.

Damian Leslie Harper has pleaded not guilty to five charges in relation to the alleged incident at Cuprona, in Tasmania’s North West in January, 2019.

Harper is charged with aggravated burglary, three counts of attempted murder and one of wounding.

It is alleged Harper went to the home of his wife’s parents four years ago and attempted to murder his wife, his six year old son and another son aged four.

It is also alleged he wounded his father in law.

The children will give evidence in the trial which is expected to run through until February 17.

The jury has been empanneled and will start hearing evidence on Thursday.
