Tributes flow for 28-year-old Hobart panel beater Dillon Robert Mitchell

A fun-loving panel beater and car enthusiast who tragically died last week – leaving friends and family in shock – is being remembered by mates as “the life of the party” and a “legend”. READ THE TRIBUTES

A Hobart panel beater and car enthusiast who tragically died last week is being remembered by friends as “the life of the party” and a “total legend”.

Dillon Robert Mitchell, 28, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 19.

As written in an obituary in The Mercury, Mr Mitchell was the “loved and loving son of Darren and Tracy, brother of Kye, loving stepson of Theresa, stepbrother of Delaney and Nikita, grandson of Graham and Eileen and Robert and Betty.”

“(Dillon) will be sadly missed by all his uncles, aunties, cousins and friends. As Dillon would say ‘send it big daddy!’.”

Mr Mitchell was employed by Wells Bodyworks and Towing Hobart as a panel beater, and had a passion for cars and car modifications.

In the wake of his passing, hundreds of his friends took to Facebook to leave their tributes.

Jesse Harrison said Mr Mitchell was “the rarest one out, but you were our rare one.”

He added that he would “forever cherish the memories” and said “till we meet again brother fly high with a double Jacks in your hand.”

Connor Warn wrote: “I’m going to f***ing miss you big fella. Rest easy brother. I will never forget you and the memories I have of you mate. Honestly I can’t believe it.”

Sioned Cato, a woman who said Mr Mitchell was her “first love”, shared her heartbreak.

“I am so broken I literally can’t put into words right now what is going through my mind or how I am feeling. My first love, My first best friend,” she said.

“My heart is aching and is shattered into a so many pieces right now. I will forever cherish our memories we made together. No matter what we went through we had always remained good friends and you was always there for me.

“I will miss you so much dill. Love you forever.”

Friend Rob Trezise said: “We lost a legend”. I can only be glad we had a wicked night out on the clubs Saturday and try and be half the man/mate he was!”

Another friend wrote the shocking news of his passing had “knocked me on my ass”.

“We had a wicked night Saturday and we planned to talk through the week … I’m heartbroken.

Aleesha Large said she was “gutted”, adding: “One of a kind taken way too soon.”

Jason Johnston said Mr Mitchell was “the best mate anyone could have asked for” and “this doesn’t seem real.”

“The drinking sessions just won’t be the same without you. RIP buddy.”

Friends of Mr Mitchell have set up a GoFundMe to help the family cover funeral costs. It has raised over $5000 of its $10000 goal.
