A Moonah mum and her daughter have found the perfect-morning pick-me-up after scoring $24,000 on an Instant Scratch-It.

The local woman was out doing chores when she picked up the $5 golden ticket from the Moonah Newsagency and forgot about her purchase until early the next morning.

“I was fast asleep when I heard all this screaming, and then mum ran into my room and shoved the ticket in my face.

“She just kept saying ‘We’ve won $24,000! We’ve won $24,000!’.

The pair said the win was a dream come true and are still coming to terms with the life-changing news.

“Honestly, we are not sure how we will spend the prize. We still need to let this news sink in! But I know it’ll come in handy.”

The local women celebrated with their favourite breakfast.

Hobart single mum becomes overnight millionaire

A single mum from Hobart has received a phone call she’ll never forget after taking out a division one prize in Saturday’s TattsLotto draw.

The woman who had only recently starting playing TattsLotto won a total of $1,234,399.86 – one of five division one entries.

“I never imagined this would happen to me! It’s incredible.” said the lucky woman.

“I only just started buying these tickets. I never play lottery games! I don’t even know what type of ticket I bought! It’s crazy.”

The local resident said she was overwhelmed with the life-changing win after a tough few months.

“It’s unreal. Holy sh**!”

The golden ticket was purchased online at thelott.com and was one of 14 division one entries won in Tasmania this year – collectively worth more than $17.51 million.
