“Prior to being a mother, I always knew that the RCH was a place that cares for children who are unwell, but something I’ve learnt since now being a mum who often uses the RCH, I realise just how amazing of a job they do at loving the children all the while caring for them,’’ Jordan said.

“The way they also dress the hospital so that it’s bright and fun and there’s always things to be looking at or doing. It’s clear that they understand the importance of childhood and I think they do a wonderful job at trying to nurture and protect it for those children who are distracted with health challenges.”

Jordan said all Victorians understand how important it is to donate.

“That’s the great thing about our country, we always put our arms around the children, especially those who are vulnerable,’’ she said.

“Being an ambassador means a great deal to me. As someone who has spent a lot of time at the RCH relying heavily on the care and support it provides for my son, I know very well how important the RCH is and the work the people there do.”

Ablett is an ambassador for Friday’s appeal alongside Lucy Durack, Ben Brown, Emma Murray, Hayden and Carlee Clements plus Sam Wood, Carly Findlay, Rebecca Maddern and Peter Mitchell.

On Tuesday night Ablett paid tribute to her son Levi on social media, saying he’s brought endless joy to their lives.

“This is a shot of Levi watching other kids playing together,’’ she wrote.

“I often wonder what’s going through his mind as he watches and whether he’s thinking about how they’re doing things that he wants to do but can’t, and although I don’t have the answer, one thing I do know is that whatever it is that he’s thinking, it’s clearly beautiful and it’s making him happy, which makes me happy.

“He’s just the perfect example of finding joy in the little things, how to be happy for others no matter what our own circumstances may look like and how actions speak much louder than words I have learnt so much from my boy without him ever saying a single one!”
