Baby in pram hit by car in central Geelong, driver assisting police investigation

Police are investigating after a one-year-old in a pram was hit by a car and taken to hospital on Tuesday morning.

A one-year-old baby has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in central Geelong.

The baby and the person pushing the pram were struck by a vehicle at the intersection of McKillop and Swanton streets just after 8.30am on Tuesday.

The child was taken to Geelong hospital with an upper body injury, an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said, while the other person involved was not injured.

The 37-year-old driver from Geelong West is assisting police with their investigation.

“The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and the investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesman said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam or CCTV footage or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

The scene was cleared by 9.15am.
