Spend a day taking in Tasmania’s tastes and sights with these five foodie experiences

With so many local producers to choose from, why not spend a day taking in the tastes and sights of Tasmania? Or five days, as it’s difficult to choose from foodie experiences.

With so many local producers to choose from, why not spend a day taking in the tastes and sights of Tasmania? Or five days, as it’s difficult to choose from foodie experiences.

Off the Table

The five foodie experiences recently launched by Off the Table, aims to create experiences that take you behind the scenes of a food brand to see what most people typically would be unable to see. Walk through the tomatoes seasonal tunnels and taste six different varieties, unearth truffles with your own hands before devouring them and see the technology used in free-range egg production.

Experiences are seasonal and can be booked at www.offthetable.io

The Agrarian Experience

A celebration of the seasons, each Agrarian Experience is at least six months in the making from planting to harvest. The day includes foraging, harvesting, cooking, learning, eating and drinking, beginning with the whole class donning their gumboots and foraging in the garden for the produce. Rodney Dunn ensures you will learn the process and techniques of cooking with what you get up and close with. The class goes from 9am to 4.30pm and is $385 per person.

Fat Pig Farm

At the long table of the farm kitchen, guests of the Fat Pig Farm feast in Glaziers Bay in the Huon Valley will devour multiple dishes straight from the garden or paddock, all seasonal, grown by hand and cooked in the open kitchen. A slow and tasty afternoon, guests are taken on a tour of the farm between courses, to see up close where your food has come from. Currently Fat Pig Farm feasts are every Friday but later in the year Saturday will join.
