Festival organisers are predicting a bumper 2019-20 Taste festival despite a reduction in stalls

Organisers are predicting this year’s Taste of Tasmania event will be the bee’s knees as day one of the festival fast approaches after months of planning.

ORGANISERS are predicting this year’s Taste of Tasmania event to be the bee’s knees as the festival fast approaches.

The 31st instalment of the Princes Wharf event will follow a bee theme — an idea festival organiser Brooke Webb said symbolised more than just trendy branding.

“Everything in a beehive works in unison, and what we’ve done this year has brought together community groups, artists, stallholders and food producers and allowed them to weave together what they’re doing,” she said.

This year’s festival will see a reduction in stalls from 114 to 94, after the event was expanded for it’s 30th anniversary last year.

Ticketed culinary events also won’t feature at this year’s Taste, but Ms Webb said that wouldn’t kill the buzz of the festival.

“We’ve got 725 local artists and 225 activities and performances over the seven days,” she said.

The Taste of Tasmania runs from December 28 to January 3.
