AN inner-city pub has been voted home of the state’s tastiest parmigiana.

The Brunswick Hotel, on Liverpool St in Hobart, topped the list with 26 per cent of the votes cast by Mercury readers in our Best of Tasmania online poll.

The bustling venue serves up something for everyone — offering chicken, wallaby and mushroom parmis with chips, rocket and parmesan salad, and your choice of toppings.

Brunswick Hotel general manager Duncan Lumsden described the win as a “prestigious honour”.

“We would like to thank our local suppliers who, with their support and produce help make our parmis so great,” he said.

“Also to our fantastic kitchen team, led by executive chef Tony Gamble, who hand make these beauties daily — awesome job.

“To the front of house team, who deliver and serve them, you are amazing.

“And the biggest thank you of all is to our loyal customers and voters, you folks rock.”

We received dozens of nominations for more than 30 different businesses and compiled a list of the six most popular establishments to determine once and for all whose parmigiana reigns supreme.

The Tasmanian Inn took out second place, followed by the Ocean Child Inn, Longley International Hotel, Shamrock Hotel and Pembroke Hotel.

We earlier crowned the state’s best fish and chips.
