A woman is recovering in Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition after she suffered critical injuries and had a leg amputated following a horrific three-vehicle crash on Lindsay St.
The cause of the crash is unknown, with police investigating several lines of inquiry, according to a Queensland Police Service spokesman.
The initial Forensic Crash Unit investigation indicates that a motorist was travelling along Lindsay St when they veered off the road and hit a pedestrian who was standing at the rear of a parked car at 10.44am on February 2.
The woman, aged in her late 20s, suffered a critical leg injury that ultimately led to her leg being amputated.
The impact had enough force behind it to move the parked car forward where it collided with a third vehicle.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics treated the woman at the scene before transporting her to hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.
Meanwhile the driver, a woman aged in her 50s, was treated for shock and transported to Toowoomba Hospital as a precaution.
The Toowoomba Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the matter and anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage of the area near the intersection of Lindsay and Bridge streets should come forward.
