Two men have been charged over an alleged armed robbery in Newtown that saw the keys to a vehicle stolen at knifepoint.

It’s alleged that about 1.45pm on August 3 a 25-year-old Goodna man confronted a 45-year-old woman at a Brigalow Street address.

The man is accused of then arming himself with a knife and demanding the keys to the woman’s vehicle, a blue Mazda CX-5.

After allegedly taking the keys and the vehicle, the 25-year-old then picked up a 28-year-old South Toowoomba man a short distance away.

The woman was not physically injured.

After extensive inquiries into the incident Toowoomba detectives swooped yesterday morning in a raid that netted the two men.

Travis James Robertson Washington, 28, and Shaun Douglas Hall, 25, spent the night in custody before their matters were mentioned before Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday.

Both men have been charged with one count each of enter premises, burglary, enter dwelling with intent, robbery while armed and in company and unlawful use of motor vehicle.

Solicitor Brad Skuse, for Washington, told the court his client was not required in court as he was on a return to prison warrant and would not be making an application for bail.

Washington was remanded in custody with his matters adjourned to October 7 for committal mention.

Solicitor Michael Corbin, for Hall, said his client would not be applying for bail either.

Mr Corbin said he intended sending a submission to police regarding the enter dwelling and robbery charges and asked for a two-week adjournment.

Magistrate Kay Phillipson remanded Hall in custody and adjourned his matters to September 2.

Police are appealing for information to locate the blue Mazda CX-5, which still remains outstanding and may be bearing false number plates.
