Police investigate suspicious fire at Rangeville home

Police are searching for a slim-built man who fled the scene on an e-scooter who may be responsible for starting a fire that destroyed two vehicles in a quiet Toowoomba suburb.

Detectives from the Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch are working to locate the person responsible for a blaze that destroyed two vehicles in the early hours of Friday morning.

Emergency service crews were called to a home near the corner of Rowbotham and Stanmoore streets in Rangeville at 4.58am on Friday.

They located two vehicles burning inside the garage.

Firefighters had the fire under control within about 15 minutes and left the police with control of the scene.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the initial investigations indicated the fire was deliberately lit, with a man seen leaving the area at the time.

Detectives are treating the incident as targeted, and believed there was no ongoing threat to the public.

The male is described as caucasian with a slim build, wearing a high-visibility shirt and riding an e-scooter with no helmet.

He was last seen entering Pigott Drive around the time of the incident.

Detectives have conducted extensive inquiries in the area and are currently examining CCTV footage.
