Police are searching for a firearm that was taken from a Toyota LandCruiser moments before it was set on fire near Brookstead.

The vehicle was one of two stolen from a Kincora address on Thursday, allegedly by a 19-year-old Oakey man and a 17-year-old Tara boy.

Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said LandCruiser was located a short distance from property burnt out and bogged in farm land.

“Police will allege it was deliberately set on fire,” he said.

Police will allege there was a firearm in the LandCruiser when it was stolen which has not been recovered.

The second vehicle, a Mitsubishi Triton, was sighted several times through the day, first at Kingsthorpe and later at Oakey where it is alleged the pair ran from the vehicle and were set upon by the dog squad.

They were arrested a short distance from the vehicle.

The man has been charged with one count of arson and two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle with police hoping to lay further charges later today.

He remains in police custody to face Toowoomba Magistrates Court later today.

The boy has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will face the Toowoomba Children’s Court on December 15.
