Police charge 15-year-old boy over alleged wild crime spree across Toowoomba

Police will allege the boy’s crime spree started with stealing a car from a Prince Henry Heights home and included the attempted robbery of a baker at the Wyalla Plaza.

Toowoomba police made multiple arrests over the weekend taking several high-risk youth offenders into custody, including a 15-year-old boy who has been charged with 15 offences.

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said police will allege the boy broke into seven properties and committed two robberies and one attempted robbery in one night.

“Police will allege this was a part of a series of criminal offences that started on April 12, with a break-in at a Prince Henry Heights home where a car was stolen and also involved an attempted robbery of a bakery at Wyalla Plaza,” he said.

The boy is charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, seven counts of entering a premises, two counts of robbery and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs and attempted robbery.

He remains in custody.

Police have also detained and charged a 15-year-old boy after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The boy is charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.

He will face the Toowoomba Childrens Court later this week where police will object to his bail.

In other matters, police arrested a 35-year-old man who is alleged to have stolen an elderly woman’s handbag while she was parked in her car at the Northpoint Shopping Centre.

The man is charged with seven counts of breaching bail, four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of driving under the influence of liquor, possessing dangerous drugs, obstructing police, trespass, robbery and stealing.

He will face the Toowoomba Magistrates Court at a later date.

“Toowoomba police will continue to use all resources available to locate wanted persons and put them before the courts,” Sergeant McCusker said.
