Toowoomba police have appealed for the public’s help after a 63-year-old woman was injured during a robbery in Newtown.

According to police the Pittsworth woman was waiting inside her car at a shopping centre carpark on the corner of Anzac Ave and James St about 4pm Wednesday when a man reached through her open front passenger side window, stealing her handbag.

When the woman got out of her vehicle to confront the man she was pushed to the ground.

The woman was taken to Toowoomba Hospital with head injuries, with the man fleeing the scene in a silver 2015 Honda HR-V station wagon with Queensland registration 292 WAI, believed to have been stolen from an Aberdeen St address in Rangeville on April 5.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault or have any information or dashcam footage to contact policelink on 131 444.

The incident comes months after Toowoomba man Robert Brown, 75, died after he was allegedly pushed to the ground during a robbery outside Toowoomba’s Grand Central shopping centre, with three teenagers now facing murder charges over the incident.
