A Rockville man accused of murdering a Brisbane man by running him down in a car at the bottom of the Toowoomba range has had his charges mentioned in court.

Jonathan Wright, 46, allegedly rammed another vehicle on November 30, 2022, before running that vehicle into a ditch.

Mr Wright then allegedly did a U-turn and drove back to the second vehicle and ran down 33-year-old Paul Sia as he tried to flee from the passenger’s side of the car.

Mr Sia, 33, suffered critical injuries and died a week later in a Brisbane hospital.

Mr Wright has not yet been required to enter any pleas to his charges which include murder, dangerous operation of a vehicle, two counts of endangering the safety of a person in a vehicle with intent, producing dangerous drugs and possessing dangerous drugs.

In Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday, Mr Wright’s solicitor Joe McConnell told the court that police material, including witness statements, had been provided but further evidence was still outstanding such as a statement from a neurosurgeon, a telephone statement and a DNA report on Mr Sia’s vehicle.

Magistrate Louise Shephard remanded Mr Wright in custody and adjourned the matter to June 7.
