A Toowoomba magistrate received an update on the high-profile alleged murder case of Robert Brown, who was fatally injured at Grand Central Shopping Center in February.

Police charged 18-year-old Isaac Zane Cubby with murder, and 23 other crimes, following the death of the 75-year-old.

Police claim Mr Brown was waiting for a taxi when he was allegedly pushed from behind by the teenager, who then stole the man’s bag and fled in a stolen car.

Mr Cubby had his case mentioned at the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon, July 28.

Solicitor Ryan McCullough told the court his firm recently obtained all evidence from the police prosecution.

The MacDonald Law layer said it was a considerable amount of evidence that would take a large amount of time to review.

Magistrate Clare Kelly told Mr McCullough she would give him eight weeks, and scheduled the case to be mentioned in court on September 8.

The court also heard barrister Stephen Kissick was briefed on the case in preparation for its move to a higher court.
