A 37-YEAR-OLD man police claim was responsible for a Christmas Holiday crime spree in Toowoomba has been remanded in custody.

Harley Knight remained in the watch house and was not required to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court when his matters were mentioned on Friday.

His solicitor Claire Graham, of Skuse Graham Lawyers, told the court Knight’s parole had been suspended and so no application for bail would be made at this stage.

Police accuse Knight of entering a business complex on Margaret Street on December 27 by reaching through a window and unlocking it.

It is alleged he then accessed several businesses within the complex including an architect firm, a jeweller store, a beautician business and a gaming business.

The initial police report indicated he allegedly stole several watches, electronic devices, a set of screwdrivers and two hair straighteners.

Police further claim Knight broke into a Neil Street accountancy firm on January 6, a Donation Lane mechanic workshop and a Bowen Street accountancy firm on December 11, a Bowen Street accountant firm on December 6 and a Ruthven Street dance school on December 5.

He was arrested on Wednesday on three counts of entering a premises with intent and six counts of entering a premises and committing an indictable offence.

Ms Graham asked the court on Friday to adjourn Knight’s charges to a later date so she could take further instructions from her client and apply for Legal Aid funding.

Magistrate Kay Phillipson therefore remanded Knight in custody and adjourned his matters for mention back in the same court on February 10.
