A 44-year-old man who did some ‘pretty embarrassing’ things to a lingerie mannequin - to the point where the unnerved saleswoman called for help - will spend the next two months in jail.
Neil Russell Samuel Watcho pleaded guilty to multiple charges in a Queensland country court this week, including public nuisance and stealing, and was sentenced to six months jail, eligible for parole after two months.
Watcho, who is homeless, behaved in a “pretty embarrassing” way with a mannequin in a South Burnett lingerie store, where he left the sales assistant feeling “extremely uncomfortable”, Kingaroy Magistrates Court heard on Wednesday.
About 11am on Monday, February 10, Watcho entered Kaylee’s in Kingaroy Shopping World, a specialty lingerie and dancewear store, while carrying a bottle of alcohol.
He started talking to the sales assistant in a personal way, asking her whether she would wear the displayed items, like G-strings, nearby.
He then walked over to one of the mannequins and started to rub the breast area, circling his finger around the nipple.
The sales assistant felt “extremely uncomfortable” and called someone she knew for help.
Later on the same day, Watcho stole a hat from Bloom’s Chemist, and multiple bottles of bourbon and rum from the Commercial Hotel Kingaroy and the Carrollee Cellars bottle shop.
Watcho appeared via video from custody in the Murgon court house and pleaded guilty to three counts of stealing after a previous conviction, being a public nuisance and breaching probation.

The court heard Watcho had a “lengthy history of like-offending” and did not generally comply with orders, including checking in with his probation officer.
His lawyer, Scott Sier, said Watcho had been “homeless for quite a long time” and become depressed after he was kicked out of the place he was recently living, which caused him to start drinking again.
Mr Sier said his client told him “he was just trying to be jovial or lighthearted” when speaking with the sales assistant but added that “it’s pretty embarrassing on his part”.
Magistrate Andrew Sinclair said he would not be imposing a fine or restitution to the businesses impacted because he did not think Watcho would ever be in a position to pay off all the fines he had received over his lifetime, let alone any future fines he may be given.
Watcho was sentenced to six months jail, eligible for parole after serving two months.
