A 48-year-old mother and grandmother who sent a full frontal nude photo of her husband to his new lover has fronted Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

The woman and her husband had been together since their teenage years but the marriage broke down suddenly when the man took up with another woman, the court was told.

Between March 5 and August 6, 2022, she had sent her ex-husband’s new lover threatening messages in which she had called her derogatory names including “s---” and told her she was “coming after you” which was accompanied by a fist emoji, police prosecutor Rohan Brewster-Webb told the court.

The victim woman was so distressed by the messages she cancelled her social media account.

The grandmother had also phoned the victim at her workplace and made further threats, Mr Brewster-Webb said.

On August 5, 2022, she sent the complainant woman an image of her ex-husband fully naked, leaving the woman shocked.

The grandmother, who is not named to protect the identity of the victims, also sent her ex-husband numerous messages in which she threatened to ruin him financially along with other abusive tirades, the court was told.

The 48-year-old woman, who had no previous convictions at all, pleaded guilty to two counts of using a carriage service to menace and harass and to one count of distributing intimate images to cause distress.

Her solicitor Joe Millican told the court the 48-year-old was a mother of three adult children and a grandmother of four.

She had a very good work record and was now working in the health industry and submitted that convictions not be recorded so as not to impact on her employment.

The couple had been together since his client was 16, and the man 18, and the marriage breakdown had been sudden due to his infidelity which proved a very emotional time for his client, Mr Millican said.

Magistrate Louise Shephard accepted the offending was out of character for the woman and ordered the convictions not be recorded.

Ms Shephard fined the woman $1500 and ordered she be released on a recognisance of $750 to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
