TikTok chef Ian Bartholomew fined in Toowoomba Magistrates Court after hurling abuse at neighbour

A Toowoomba man with more than 106k TikTok followers has been charged after a feud with neighbours escalated on New Year’s Eve.

A Toowoomba TikTok star with more than 106,000 followers has faced court after an altercation with his neighbour escalated on New Year’s Eve.

Ian Bartholomew, known on TikTok as @Indiaalphanovember, pleaded guilty to two counts of public nuisance in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on January 19, after a bubbling issue with a neighbour came to a head and police were called.

At 6.52pm on December 31, 2022, the court was told Bartholomew approached the front door of his Newtown neighbour and began yelling profanities, including remarks of “you are truly truly f--ked up, you f--king c--t.”, police prosecutor Chris Willson said.

At 7.25pm, Bartholomew, 57, put a ladder against the exterior fence of his feuding neighbour, where she and another person were sitting in her backyard, and proceeded to scream abuse at her.

Senior Constable Willson told the court that Bartholomew was so disruptive that other neighbours came out to investigate and confront him.

Both incidents were caught on video and shown to police after they were called at about 8pm that night.

The neighbour claimed the continued harassment and abuse in the days leading to the escalation, after she told him to ‘f--k off”, had left her emotionally distraught and fearing for her safety.

“A gentleman at the age of 57 years should probably make some better choices in regards to his behaviour and ignore his neighbours,” Constable Willson said.

Duty lawyer Ryan McCullough told the court Bartholomew openly accepted he had gone too far, and the seizure of his mobile phone had been detrimental to his social media profiles, as he was unable to post content.

The last video posted to his TikTok was the day of the incidents.

Magistrate Clare Kelly told Bartholomew his actions were “simply inappropriate” and in the future urged him to ignore or make any approach.

Bartholomew was fined $400, which was referred to SPER, with no conviction recorded.
