The inaugural elite mixed touch football competition in Toowoomba was a resounding success with the Springs Early Ed Suns taking out the title after defeating the EPSS Knicks in the grand final, while the Harvey Norman Warriors took out the Masters competition.
Here is our list of the best players from the season.
Knicks
Sam Carmody: The Knicks captain’s stellar play was rewarded with Carmody named male player of the series.
Carla Nobbs: Despite her side suffering defeat in the grand final, Nobbs stepped up when it mattered most and was named the female player of the final.
Mavs
Bailey Deakin: The Australian junior touch representative led the Mavs to a top four finish after a strong campaign.
Jake Notley: The Australian rep showed his mercurial talent as his pace and tricky footwork made him a persistent threat to the opposition.
Suns
Matt Moore: Moore was another Aussie rep who brought his A-game to the elite competition and was named the male player of the final.
Tess Notley: Notley’s pace was on full show in the grand final as she took home player of the final honours and was crucial to her side’s success throughout the campaign.
Spurs
Blaise Prendergast: The Spurs captain showed why he is the Toowoomba Touch Association men’s player of the year as he provided a spark in the middle for his side.
James Young: Young was a key player throughout the competition for Spurs.
Warriors
Carly Dwyer: Dwyer was consistent in both attack and defence and brought an abundance of energy to the side.
Mark Ashley: Ashley was the heartbeat of the side as he gave his all in every game.
Craig Hubbard: Hubbard improved with every game that passed and helped create a strong team moral.
Bulls
Jodie May: May’s game IQ shone through this season and was pivotal for the Bulls.
Jenna Taylor, Craig Neilan and Chris Neville all played key roles for Bulls.
Celtics
Steven Barrett: Barrett rucked hard throughout the season.
Cameron Moodie: Moodie moved the ball down the field in an efficient manner each game.
Kellie Ryan: Made plenty of valuable contributions to her team throughout the season.
Hornets
Nick Streader, Jordan Dart, Indy Kelly were standouts for the Hornets.
Heat
Ken Ward: Ward’s experience and poise in the middle was key for the Heat.
Stacey Hancock: The Heat captain led from the front this season.
Megan Schulze and Mark Delaney also played key roles.
Rockets
Jada Ferguson: The NRLW star showcased her talent throughout the season and was a class above for the Rockets.
Ryan Ward and Jay Schofield did everything that was asked of them in the competition.
