Rain has softened the Clifford Park track, but the 2025 King of the Mountain is firming as one of the best in the meet’s history.
With group and black listed race winners saddling up alongside a trio of elite Toowoomba runners, Toowoomba Turf Club CEO Grant Sheather is expecting a red hot Mort and Co KOTM race.
“The recent rain does add another layer of complexity to the race,” Sheather said.
“The local horses always a have a natural advantage here as well – the track has a few nuances that visitors are not used to.
“It’s the strongest field we’ve had in the event’s history with group and black listed winners in the field alongside some very talented locally trained horses.”
The action off track will also be amazing with Sheather promising something to keep every group entertained.
The corporate and hospitality areas are virtually sold out and the off-track entertainment including Fashions of the Field have been moved indoors.
“We’re really pleased with the support we have already seen,” Sheather said.
“I remember regularly making the trip up from for what was then Weetwood on the Toowoomba Show Holiday and now that day is King of the Mountain.
“It (KOTM) is a real drawcard.
“Racing is a great opportunity for people from all walks to dress up and have a little fun.
“We’ve moved all our entertainment indoors but there will still be plenty of room for everyone to enjoy themselves.
“We have a DJ and band for the younger crowds and all the other entertainment you would expect.”
Gates open at 10am Friday, March 28. Tickets are still available.
