Young Toowoomba equestrian riders have now set their sights on the Olympics, after the announcement that the Garden City will host Equestrian events in 2032.
The Glennie School equestrian captain Eloise Kings, 16, who has been riding since she was seven said she could never have imagined an Olympic event would be hosted in her hometown.
“It is just so surreal. It is such a dream come true,” she said.
“This puts it into perspective and actually makes it a reality, that this might be something I am able to achieve.”
Ms Kings said this is going to be a long lasting legacy venue and an incredible opportunity for regional riders to compete in a world-class facility.
“Memories will be made here and people will look back at this event,” she said.
“This is going to have economic benefits to the region as well and it will attract lot of major events in the future.”
Ms Kings is a dressage rider and also does show jumping in the 80cm height category.
With her dreams feeling a little bit closer and more achievable, Ms Kings alongside her horse Fioretti, is putting her mind to it and hopes she can make it to the 2032 Olympics.
“As I’ve grown older and become more competitive in the sport, it has become my dream to go to the Olympics and compete at the highest level,” she said.
“I am just going to continue with my consistent coaching and look towards the dream that I have and know where I want to be.
