Coming in at 5-33, the Magpies were under immense pressure, however, he formed a 120-run sixth-wicket partnership with Matt Budden to turn the tides of the contest.

With 17 fours and two sixes, there was little the bowlers could do to stop him before he was dismissed on the final ball of the innings, with his side in a competitive position at 10-208 after previously being in peril.

14. Matthew Walls (Uni, Reserve grade)

Walls started his season in style with a blistering century in round 1.

Needing four runs off the final ball of the innings to bring up his ton, Dioth could only manage two runs and fell just short of what would have been a deserved century in a clash where only four players from either team reached double figures with the bat.

His day got even better in the second innings as he took 2-4 off one over with the ball to put the icing on the cake of a superb individual effort.
