Queensland’s top school netballers take to courts in Toowoomba

NETBALL: More than 200 of Queensland’s best school netballers staked their representative claims in Toowoomba at the weekend.
Starting late last week The Glennie School and St Mary’s played host to the Queensland School Sport 13-19 years Netball Championships with 24 teams – two from each representative region – in action.
“The quality of play was fantastic,” competition organiser Meg Englart said.
“The future of netball in Queensland is definitely very bright when you look at the players and level of competition here today.”
South Coast were all smiles at the end of the four-day event after winning both of the competition’s divisions with 24 teams
Darling Downs were narrowly beaten 34-30 by Sunshine Coast in the third-fourth playoff in the 16-19 years division.
Three young Toowoomba umpires also had reason to celebrate as they officially moved through the umpiring ‘ranks’ at the championships.
Kristen Davies and Kyra Bartlett received their National B Badge accreditation and Chelsea Mifsud received her National C Badge.
