A Sunshine Coast mega auction resulted in more than $40m property transactions with 41 homes sold under the hammer on Sunday.

Ray White’s Sunshine Coast offices joined forces for a one-day auction in front of a packed and lively house at Mercedes Benz Maroochydore.

Of the 70 properties up for grabs, 41 sold under the hammer and six prior, to generate $42,792,000 in sales.

The auction had a clearance rate of 67.14 per cent.

Ray White Maroochydore‘s Dan Sowden predicted history would be created at the auction, and it delivered with sellers’ expectations blown away after several bidding wars unfolded.

Auctioneers Mr Sowden and James Goldsworthy had the room entertained and upbeat despite several buyers losing out to higher offers.

For Buddina couple Cliff Fogarty and Marilyn Munro the auction proved a success, albeit with some moments of anxiety.

The pair sold their Deejay Street, Maroochydore home of 18 years for $945,000.

Mr Fogarty said the champagne would be popped in the Bunnings car park next door.

“We wanted around $900,000, but before the auction we were getting offers around $700-$800,000,” Mr Fogarty said.

“So we are extremely happy.

“It was nerve wracking, we’ve been here shaking in our boots since 9.30am, but it has been brilliant.”

It was a similar story for Mitchell and Elisha Corcoran who sold their Altitude Drive four-bedroom home at Burnside for $100,000 above pre-auction offers.

“Oh my word we are celebrating,” Mr Corcoran said.

“All the feedback we got was mid-fives, so to get $645,000 is incredible.

“There were at least five bidders and it just kept going up and up. You want people fighting it out.”

Buyers and soon to be new Sunshine Coast residents Nick and Virginia Kurucseb purchased a penthouse in Cotton Tree for $2.28m.

The Gold Coast couple had never heard of Cotton Tree until a visit to Alexandra Headland three weeks ago.

“They had this open inspection and when we went along it ticked all the boxes,” Mrs Kurucseb said.

“We are empty nesters now so wanted to downsize to ocean views, which is what we’ve always wanted.”

Ray White’s Coastal Living Network is expected to release the full outcome of the auction by Monday.
