Here are 36 locations, from the top of the Cape down to the New South Wales border and everywhere in between, where you can live out that dream.

And some might not be as expensive as you’d think.

The cheapest pub on this list made headlines when it was revealed it would only set back investors $100,000 leasehold, with the option to purchase the freehold.

The Pioneer Hotel in Kulpi, which is situated between Toowoomba and Dalby, is a thriving community that is backed by both the mining and agricultural industries.

It includes a fully-equipped commercial kitchen, six beer taps, an open-plan bar and live-in accommodation.

2. Talwood Hotel – $535,000 freehold
