Queensland’s premier classical musicians are set to stun the Garden City with an unforgettable show among the flowers.
The Queensland Symphony Orchestra will present their Symphony Under the Stars, featuring music from the classical greats Tchaikovsky and Debussy, among the flowers of Queens Park on Friday, October 4.
The special event is part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, opening this weekend on September 13.
“Everywhere we go with this concert audiences absolutely love it,” QSO cellist Craig Allister Young said.
“Sitting outside in the beautiful night air listening to incredible music is really special.”
“I mean look at it, it’s a week out (from carnival) and the gardens are absolutely stunning already.”
The twilight concert marks the first time the full orchestra will perform for Toowoomba on an outdoor stage.
“We usually only play with the full Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Brisbane because it is so expensive to take an orchestra over the state,” Mr Young said.
“This is a great opportunity to see the entire orchestra in Toowoomba.”
Concert goers of all ages and music knowledge are invited to join.
“We’re going to be playing a full orchestral repertoire,” Mr Young said.
“But one piece I think everyone will recognise is Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers.”
Gates will open from 5.30pm with the performance set to begin at 7pm.
Tickets are available on the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers website and range from $195 to$15.
