The Toowoomba Hospital Foundation is calling all local handymen and women to transform unwanted pallets into beautiful furniture pieces to be auctioned off at the popular Toowoomba Orthodontists Pop Up Pallets event on Friday 23 July in aid of raising funds for Darling Downs Health.
Now in its fourth year, our community has helped to raise over $26,000 for our local health service through the upcycling of old pallets with the Foundation looking to make this year bigger and better.
Toowoomba Hospital Foundation CEO Alison Kennedy said the quality of creations never ceases to amaze, with local craftsman always going above and beyond each year to help fundraise for the cause.
“Last year we had to mix things up a bit with an online auction so this year we’re excited to be able to host an in-person event again where our community can come along and admire the items, bid and have a great night out,” she said.
“Over the past year we’ve seen our community really embrace new crafts, skills and truly adopt reusing old products in new ways – so we’re very excited to see what our pallet creators come up with for this year’s Pop Up Pallets!
“We’ve seen rocking horses, pizza ovens, coffee tables and even a fully equipped foosball table. So, whether you’re a qualified carpenter or simply love a great DIY challenge we welcome individuals, businesses, organisations, community and school groups to register to make a pallet creation.”
Dr Chris Turnock of Toowoomba Orthodontists said they are proud to continue their support of such a wonderful event and worthy cause.
“Toowoomba Orthodontists are proud to offer our continued support of Pop Up Pallets to help raise funds for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation,” he said.
“From the event’s inception four years ago, we’ve marvelled at the incredible talent displayed by our community and have been so impressed with the high-quality creations available for auction.
“There’s hidden pallet treasure awaiting! We hope to see you all there this year.”
Registrations to submit a pallet creation for the Toowoomba Orthodontists Pop Up Pallets event is free but strictly limited and must meet all guidelines to be considered for auction. Strictly one item per individual, organisation or group.
