IN 2002 Pure Land Learning College generously donated $120,000 to help establish the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, thus launching the Pure Land Learning College
Research Scholarships Fund allowing both novice and professional researchers at Darling Downs Health to achieve their research goals.
Since then, Pure Land has donated to the Hospital Foundation annually, and this week the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation will celebrate 20 years of support from the college, which has donated an incredible $2.28 million over the last two decades.
CEO of Toowoomba Hospital Foundation Alison Kennedy said the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation was incredibly lucky to have the wonderful support of Pure Land Learning College.
“Pure Land have gifted the foundation $120,000 every year for the past 20 years equalling a grand total of $2.28 million towards our Research Scholarships program,” she said.
“It’s such a beautiful partnership and one we hope to continue well into the future. Research in healthcare is so vital to not only our hospitals in the Darling Downs but both nationally and internationally.
“In the past and still continuing today, through Pure Land Learning College we’ve been able to fund some sensational research projects that have been able to benefit our community so that services can be delivered locally, patients don’t need to travel for care and our medical professionals can benefit from knowledge gained from local research right here in the Darling Downs.”
Director of the Multi-faith Multicultural Centre Pure Land Learning College, Abdul Razak said the 20-year relationship represented a great deal to Pure land.
“This presentation means a lot to Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, Toowoomba Hospice and Pure Land Learning College because it represents the trust, confidence and the importance of our partnership that we’ve been growing over the last 20 years,” he said.
“This partnership is more than just gifting money, it’s about pooling all our combined resources and sharing what we have to benefit mankind and our community through the passion of healthcare and research.”
Administration and Fundraising Manager of Toowoomba Hospice Mark Munro said Pure Land’s generosity, care and support for the community was exactly what the hospice aimed to achieve with people who were terminally ill and seeking end of life care.
“We receive a significant donation once a year from Pure Land Learning College, which is fabulous and helps us continue to provide the services our patients need and gives a great peace of mind to their families that we’re able to continue providing this care free of charge thanks to donations like that from Pure Land,” he said.
