Emergency alert issued to residents due to ‘fast moving’ fire

Residents of Ducklo, near Dalby, have been issued with an emergency alert and asked to prepare to leave their properties as multiple crews work to contain a ‘fast growing’ grass fire.

A warning has been issued for residents near Dalby to prepare to leave after a large and ‘fast moving’ fire was reported.

A spokeswoman for the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said multiple crews from the Rural and Urban Fire Services were working to contain a blaze in Ducklo, near Dalby.

The spokeswoman said the blaze was a ‘fast moving’ grass fire and a water bomber crew were currently on scene to assist.

Residents of properties between Wattle Drive, Gulera Rd, the Moonie Highway and Kumbarilla Road, including Ducklo Gulera Road, are impacted.

A Watch and Act warning was issued on Saturday just before 4pm, followed by an Emergency Bushfire Alert at 4.50pm.

According to the alert, conditions are expected to get worse quickly.

Residents are urged to refer to their bushfire survival plans, decide where you and pets will go if you need to leave and plan your exit, and pack essential items like documents, food, water and medication.
