Christmas has come early for a man after he won an astonishing $90,000 on Keno at the Wilsonton Hotel on Friday.

He said the money will go to a heartwarming surprise reunion with his daughter who lives interstate.

“She’s going to be completely surprised when I rock up,” he said in a statement.

“There will also be a few extra pressies going around this year.”

The Darling Downs man scored the Keno Classic 6 Spot jackpot with a x10 Bonus.

“It’s pretty unbelievable!” he said.

“It’s been a weekend full of celebrations since the win.

“This is my third win for the year. I won $3000 and $27,000 in games earlier in the year.

“It’s been a special year, and I’m looking forward to celebrating with my family.”

Wilsonton Hotel manager Dannielle Marks said the team was celebrating having one of their patrons score a major Keno prize.

“As you can imagine, Keno wins like this to become a talking point here for a long time to come,” she said.

“We wish our winner the very best with their prize!”

The previous financial year Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 78.5 million wins collectively worth more than $1.16 billion.

In 2022–23, the total gambling loss in Queensland was $6.1 billion, an increase of 36 per cent from 2018–19.

Pokies accounted for 53 per cent half of the gambling loss in 2022–23, followed by wagering, casino gambling and the lottery, while Keno had the lowest total losses.

Over the five years to 2023 Queenslanders lost more than $25.2 billion gambling.
