A picturesque property lined with sunflowers has been a place for couples to say ‘I do’, and now Bek and Rick Knudsen have vowed to use their wedding venue to help Toowoomba people during their hour of need.

The Wyreema couple said they’ve been wanting to use their country chic wedding venue for a big charity fundraiser for some time and decided a campfire cook off for Tony’s Community Kitchen was a perfect way to get started.

“We want to be able to share this beautiful location with local charities and organisations who need somewhere to host their fundraisers,” Ms Knudsen said.

“Tony’s Kitchen is an organisation very near and dear to our heart so we’re hoping this event will raise enough funds for us to purchase a caravan which will provide emergency accommodation to Toowoomba people who find themselves without a roof over their heads.”

The campfire cook off is taking place on Saturday, August 28 and the Knudsen’s are still in need of several campoven chefs to help with the event.

With $2000 worth of prizes up for grabs plus free boutique caravan accommodation available for all the major cooking contestants it’s time to dust off your biggest campoven and throw your hat in the ring.

These gorgeous little caravans are up for grabs for all of the major campoven cook off competitors to stay in overnight after the Bush Chooks and Roosters Community Cook Up is finished.

The family friendly event will also feature live music from Mick Oberle and Mid Life Crisis plus a bar, dancing, food stalls and markets as well as a chance to win a $1000 fuel voucher lucky gate prize.

Cooking competitors are also able to claim a 20 per cent discount on competition produce purchased at Andrew’s Meats and The Farm Shop.

All event proceeds raised will go towards emergency accommodation for Tony’s Community Kitchen.

Tickets start at $10 for kids and $30 for adults and can be purchased online from Eventbrite.
