A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for the victim of a brutal wounding which took place at a 7-Eleven service station in Newtown last month.

Bodi Mcdonald, 26, from Dalby was allegedly stabbed in the abdomen by a former acquaintance, 26-year-old Aaron Sydney Green on Saturday, July 31 at 10am.

The attack left Mr Mcdonald unable to work for several weeks as he recovers from both the eight centimetre knife wound as well as a 40 centimetre gash on his stomach when doctors were forced to perform surgery to determine the extent of the damage made to his internal organs.

GoFundMe campaign founder Nick Jenner said he is hoping to raise an initial amount of $5000 to help aid in Mr Mcdonald’s recovery.

“Since the incident, he is unable to return to work for a minimum of six weeks which means that he is unable to provide income for his family,” he said.

“This attack has caused a lot of stress and worry on Bodi, his biggest worry over his recovery right now is not being able to provide for his eight-year-old daughter and partner.

“Being left out of work for a minimum of six weeks, he has no way off paying for all of their bills and living expenses.”

Green handed himself into police on Monday, August 2 and appeared by video from the Toowoomba watch house when his charge of unlawful wounding was read out in court where he was remanded in custody with the case adjourned for committal mention on August 31.

So far the campaign has managed to raise $910.
