Join the Downs Polo Club for its annual Picnic at the Polo, held at the Clifton Showgrounds.

This year is extra special as they celebrate 130 years of polo on the Darling Downs.

Bring your picnic out for an action packed day of country polo, fashions on the field, divot stomp and more.

While there are VIP and camping packages available, grandstand entry is free.

Food trucks and the polo bar will be open throughout the day.

Gates open 10am-5pm on Saturday.

2. Thunder on the Downs

Head to the Toowoomba Speedway on Saturday afternoon for an action-packed catalogue of racing.

Gates open at 3pm, with an autograph session held before the main racing at 5pm.

Expect to see sprintcars, V8 dirt modifiers and wingless sprints.

There will be fireworks at 8pm before everything wraps up at 10.30pm.

3. Outdoor Expo

The Queensland Outdoor Adventure Expo returns to the Toowoomba Showground this weekend, transforming the venue into an outdoor adventure paradise to showcase the best in caravans, camper trailers, 4x4 vehicles and accessories.

Get up close and personal with the newest innovations in outdoor equipment, vehicles, and accessories, meet industry professionals ready to help craft your dream adventure and enjoy a range of live demonstrations, expert presentations, and activities for the whole family.

There will be dozens of great holiday prizes awards through the weekend.

Gates open early Saturday and Sunday.

4. Motocross Champs

Round Seven of the Penrite ProMX Championship will be held at Echo Valley this weekend.

Non-stop handlebar-to-handlebar action will light up the Middle Ridge track as the nation’s top riders enter the final rounds of the championship, where they will aim to set themselves for the run to the finale.

The schedule includes practice, qualifying and racing with action from Australia’s best riders.

Gates open from 8am-4pm on Sunday.

5. Jumpers and Jazz in July

Don’t miss the final weekend of Warwick’s infamous annual festival of arts and culture, with the impressive Yarntopian display, artesian markets and live jazz on Saturday and Sunday.

Weekend highlights include the stroll and swing event in Leslie Park from 9am and the grand finale on Sunday from 9am.

6. Take a Miniature Steam Train Ride around Highfields Pioneer Village

The newly restored 1913 model T Bus will return to the tracks on Sunday along with a range of other activities at the village including billy tea and damper, bird feeding, sausage sizzle and vintage bus tours.

Tickets for the steam train are $5 for adults and $3 for children.

7. Sunset Session at Rosalie House

Take a trip out the picturesque countryside of Lilyvale for an afternoon of live music and a wine or two at Rosalie House Cellar Door from 2.30pm on Sunday.

8. Catch a movie

If you’re in the mood for a good laugh or an action fanatic, why not book a ticket to see the latest flicks at Event Cinemas with new releases including Fantastic Four: First Steps, Superman and Jurassic World: Rebirth.

9. Ice N Spice birthday celebrations

Toowoomba’s best Indian restaurant celebrates its 11th birthday over the weekend.

Family owned Ice ‘N’ Spice was crowned the Garden City’s best Indian restaurant earlier this year receiving 45 per cent of the votes.

Helmed by couple Jasvinder Jammu and Gurpreet Kaur, Ice ‘N” Spice use authentic spices and ingredients with the dishes including a variety of delicious curries all made from scratch in house.

Located at 177A-179 Margaret St, birthday celebrations will kick off on Saturday with Bollywood live music from 5pm and belly dancing performances from 7pm.

10. Markets

Stock up on fresh produce and homemade goodies for your weekend celebrations at one of Toowoomba’s quality markets.

Every Saturday Toowoomba Farmers’ Market is as 27 Lindsay St, East Toowoomba (near the windmills at Cobb & Co Museum) from 7am to 12pm, and every Sunday the Toowoomba PCYC Market is at 219 James St from 7am to 12.30pm.
