Ex-Flinders Uni staffer Duncan David Langford-Glass may face more child abuse material charges as evidence increases, court told

Evidence is mounting against a former Flinders Uni researcher who allegedly accessed child abuse material, a court has heard – with prosecutors flagging more charges.

A former Flinders University researcher with a prior career in child protection could be facing more charges after Commonwealth prosecutors requested more time to sort through a “significant” amount of evidence.

Duncan David Langford-Glass, a former College of Medicine and Public Health research fellow, was due to enter pleas to Commonwealth charges of using a carriage service to access child abuse material.

However, on Thursday, prosecutors requested additional time due to the amount of digital evidence collected during their investigation.

“It may be appropriate for further charges to commence,” prosecutors told the court.

Chief Magistrate Judge Mary-Louise Hribal granted the adjournment, noting the “significant” amount of evidence and that there was “more to follow”.

Flinders University said Mr Langford-Glass was suspended immediately after arrest, and his employment was subsequently terminated as he couldn’t fulfil the requirements of the role, one of which is a working with children check.

The court previously heard Mr Langford-Glass, 37, had communicated, via Instagram, with another man about children.

That man, he said, is facing charges separately and his identity has been suppressed in those proceedings.

“There is communication in relation to a female child believed to be around the ages of 8 and 10,” he said.

“There is also evidence of sextortion … extracts from their Instagram chat show discussion in relation to a female child aged approximately 14 years old who resides in SA.

“This accused offers to provide the other person with $200 in order to facilitate that individual to solicit child exploitation material from the child.”

Documents released by the court to The Advertiser revealed his alleged offending – to which he is yet to enter pleas – took place between October 23 and December 12 last year.

According to his online biography, Mr Langford-Glass – a Kamilaroi man from NSW who now resides in SA – has a Bachelor’s degree in social work.

“(He) has worked within government and non-government areas including social and mental health, child protection and Indigenous health,” it states.

He is the co-author of a study called “If you can’t feel Country beneath your feet, something’s wrong: Foot stomp in southern Adelaide”, which deals with Indigenous podiatric needs.
