CCTV footage captures ‘peeping Tom’ in Norwood

A ‘peeping Tom’ has been caught peering into unsuspecting eastern suburbs homes with residents also reporting other strange behaviour in the affluent suburb. Watch the footage.

A number of Norwood residents have reported a “creepy” midnight visitor lurking in the shadows of their suburban streets.

CCTV footage revealed by 7NEWS Adelaide captured the ‘peeping Tom’ as he sneakily made his way through residents’ front gates and up to their windows.

“It was so creepy,” a victim of the suspicious intruder told 7NEWS Adelaide.

“Ever since then I haven’t really felt very safe to be honest, because I don’t know if he’ll come back.”

Two pieces of footage clearly show a man dressed in active gear wearing fingerless gloves as he approaches a stranger’s home to peep through the windows.

It is understood in both incidents captured on film, the man was caught in the act and fled the scene on a push bike.

In addition to these incidents caught on camera, Norwood residents have also reported gates being left wide open and rubbish bins moved.

SA Police confirmed they were “investigating suspicious behaviour in the Norwood area” and the man had not yet been located.

“Police were called to Sheldon Street, Norwood about 1am on Wednesday 12 February after reports of a suspicious man on the victim’s premises,” a police spokeswoman said.

“A patrol searched the area but the suspect was not located.

“Police can confirm a report was made after the occupants of a Beulah Road, Norwood home viewed CCTV and discovered a man had approached their house about 1am on 25 December.”

While the behaviour is definitely “suspicious”, it’s not necessarily an “offence”, according to the spokeswoman.

Police advised residents to report any suspicious behaviour to 131 444.
