South Australia Police are again warning cyclists and walkers to be alert after a fishing line was found across a busy bike path in Adelaide’s northern suburbs last week.
Just after 2:30pm on Friday, a cyclist reported riding through clear fishing line that had been placed across the bike path near the Main North Rd underpass near Carisbrooke Park.
Later that day at about 8pm, a spool of wire was also found near the path on the bridge at Saints Rd, Salisbury, near the dog park.
While the wire was not strung across the path, police said they were concerned by the discovery.
There were no reports of injuries.
Northern District police are now investigating both incidents and are urging pedestrians and cyclists in the area to be aware of potential dangers and be alert when using bike paths.
It comes after two serious incidents last month, where cyclists were injured after wire was strung across the Southern Expressway bike paths, resulting in at least four people being injured, and their bikes significantly damaged.
Police arrested and charged a teenager with two counts of act to cause serious harm and four counts of damage to property.
He was released on bail with an electronic monitoring device and it will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in May.
Police have asked anyone who finds further evidence of obstructions being deliberately strung across bike paths to report it.
