A Warwick woman’s disturbing threat over text was enough to land her in court with a bizarre reason for the messages being sent in the first place.

“You have 24 hours to leave Warwick, my associates are coming” was one of the first messages sent by Rebecca Louise Green, 35, between March 29 and April 2 of this year.

“She sent the message ‘don’t speak out of school or you’ll cop a bullet to the head’,” police prosecutor Sarah Bartholomew told Warwick Magistrates Court.

The victim - a man who had a brief relationship with Green spanning a few months - was concerned the woman could carry out offending.

“They will rape you and f--k you and kill you,” Green sent the man, the court was told.

The prosecutor detailed the threats which quickly escalated, and included that the victim “better move on you have 24 hours to get out,” and “piece of s--t dead dog”.

The man was terrified for his safety and quickly went to police. When they caught up with Green, she claimed it couldn’t have been her as her “phone was stolen”.

Green’s defence lawyer, Sarah Campbell, said her client was under the influence of alcohol and had “no apparent ability to carry out the threats”.

“Green and (the man) were in a romantic relationship for months before a break-up via text,” Ms Campbell said.

The mother of one suffered with “anger problems” the court was told.

Green pleaded guilty to one charge of using a phone service to menace or harass on July 22, saying she wanted to “wrap everything up”.

Magistrate Janice Crawford said there was “no doubt the conduct was abusive and harassing” and noted Green’s early plea.

The woman was sentenced to a $700 good behaviour bond for four months. Convictions were recorded.
