A coroner will hold an inquest into the death of a baby at Bowen.

A coronial probe will examine the circumstances surrounding the death of an eight-month-old child at Bowen.

The baby boy died unexpectedly at a home in March 2019.

The focus of an inquest is about determining what happened and making recommendations to prevent similar deaths in future.

Northern Coroner Nerida Wilson will hold a pre-inquest conference in mid May.

“At the pre-inquest conference counsel assisting the coroner will outline the issues proposed to be considered at the inquest,” a Coroners Court spokesman said.

“Persons (including family) may make submissions about other issues they think should be included.

“The coroner will decide on the issues to be explored at the inquest. No evidence will be heard at the pre-inquest conference.”
