Cannonvale bottle shop worker threatened with knife in failed robbery
A man’s frightening armed robbery plan fell through, while another man is facing drug charges after being kicked out of a nightclub in the heart of the Whitsundays.

A would-be armed robber failed to remove money from his victim’s wallet in a frightening robbery attempt north of Airlie Beach on Sunday night.
Police said an unknown man approached an Airlie Beach Hotel bottle shop worker in Cannonvale about 9.10pm on Sunday night.
The man was armed with a knife and made a threat followed by a demand for money.
The wallet was quickly handed over to the man, who failed to remove money from his victim’s wallet, dumped it on the ground nearby and fled the scene.
Nobody was injured in the incident and all of the money has since been retrieved.
Police allege the armed man is described as being caucasian in appearance, roughly 25-years-old, about 187 cm tall, medium build, full length beard, wearing a black hoodie, cap underneath, full length black pants and blue joggers.
The Whitsunday Criminal Investigation Branch is investigating the matter.
Members of the community with dashcam vision of the area between the hours of 8pm and 10pm are encouraged to contact police.
In an unrelated incident, a 21-year-old Mackay man will appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court after he was allegedly found in possession of a dangerous drug in Airlie Beach on Saturday night.
Police were patrolling a licensed venue on Shute Harbour Road when their attention was drawn to a man who was being evicted by security staff.
Officers then searched the man and allegedly found a bag of the drug in a jumper pocket.
The man was served with a notice to appear in court, where he will face the charge of unlawful possession of a dangerous drug.
