Proserpine crash: Car and ute towing a boat collide on Bruce Highway
A man is facing serious charges over a collision on the Bruce Highway that involved a boat. Debris was spread across the roadway from the crash that extensively damaged a motel fence.

A Mackay man is facing serious charges over a multi-vehicle crash at Proserpine that extensively damaged a car and boat on one of the rural town’s busiest days of the year.
Police allege he was driving dangerously while under the influence when two vehicles, including one towing a boat, collided on the Bruce Highway south of the Mobil service station on Horsford Pl about 8.30pm.
A 47-year-old Slade Point man is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence and failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis.
He will face Proserpine Magistrates Court in July.
It is understood the vehicles collided on the highway, and the force of the impact pushed one through a motel fence.
One of the vehicles – a dual cab ute – appeared to have extensive damage at the tray end.
Multiple emergency services were called to the scene including Queensland Ambulance Service.
Paramedics took two patients in a stable condition to Proserpine Hospital.
A police spokeswoman said the crash had not blocked the highway and the vehicles were off the road, but there remained a large amount of debris strewn around the collision point.
One of the vehicles appeared to have rolled a number of times, coming to a rest near a cane paddock.
Several passers-by were among the first on-scene and reported one of the vehicles to be smoking.
The vehicles’ occupants were able to extricate themselves and appeared uninjured.
Police are investigating.
