Joshua Anderson, 18, has been sentenced in Warwick Magistrates Court after he pointed a bow and arrow at another person during an apartment complex melee.

A melee at a unit complex quickly got out of hand when an 18-year-old man pulled out a bow and arrow in response to being hit by a beer can.

Joshua Anderson was originally charged with going armed so as to cause fear, with the charge downgraded to public nuisance.

Anderson pleaded guilty in Warwick Magistrate Court on April 7 to the lesser charge, with the court told that his anger got the better of him when he attended the Fitzroy St unit complex on October 14 last year.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Steve de Lissa told the court in the midst of the kerfuffle Anderson picked up a bow and arrow, pointing and aiming it in the direction of the opposing party.

The court was told Anderson did not fire the bow and arrow.

It was the young man’s first time before the court with his defence solicitor Clare Hine telling the court Anderson was unsure why he became so upset during the altercation.

Ms Hine also told the court Anderson had at some point been hit with a beer can.

Magistrate Janice Crawford took into account Anderson’s lack of criminal history and young age, ordering he be subject to a two-month good behaviour bond.

No conviction was recorded.
